Kim was brought up in a family of artists and artisans; she was introduced to a wide range of artistic endeavors throughout her childhood and adolescence.  During those early years, she was fortunate to live with her family and travel to various locations in the United States and Europe. 

In her chosen career of law enforcement, it was not coincidental that she frequently found herself on any committee having to do with design.  Over her 31 year career in law enforcement she helped design police department logos, effective designs for police cruisers, created backdrops for televised media briefings, and many other projects requiring her design skills and branding for the department.  Neither was it coincidental that upon retirement she decided to expand upon her life experience and love of color and start a new career in interior design.
